Scythe Ninja Mini Rev B.
Hi,
does anybody know anything about this heatsink?
It is listed on Scythe's website.
However it cannot be found on newegg, and while it is listed on geizhals, there are no shops listed selling it.
What is up? Is this item so new that it's not available anywhere? The old one is no longer available in Germany, and I'm looking for a LGA1156 compatible heatsink to run passive in my NSK2400.
Anybody with any info would be much appreciated - I have not been following the computer hardware scene for the past 2 years, so if there was any news on this, I missed it.

You're lucky! There are still some selling on eBay right now. Unused, I think.

EDIT: I have no connections to the seller, other than my Internet connection.

Why don't you consider Katana 3 if you really want 80/90mm fan tower design cooler in Scythe camp. Frankly, I wouldn't purchase these slim coolers like Scythe Katana 3, Coolermaster TX3, or Xigmatel 963 if budget is not a concern. Unless you're limited by space, why not get a 120mm fan cooler for the same price that has better cooling capability.
I have also been looking for a Ninja Mini for some time, and behold, a couple of days ago a Swedish price comparison site showed quite a few web shops with the Ninja Mini in stock. See *ww.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=450752 (in Swedish) for an overview.
I ordered one from Indomo.se the day before yesterday, and today I picked up the parcel at the post office. Hooray!
Unfortunately none of the shops seems to allow for delivery abroad, but I guess you could try e-mailing them. Otherwise this sudden availability in Sweden could mean that the Ninja Mini is in stock again in other countries as well.

SPCR just reviewed 2 heatsinks a couple months back that are actually better than the mini ninja, and both made by Scythe. They are top-down affairs and have funky names. One of them came with a fan that Mike said is the "quietest fan he's ever tested". They are $35-40 and honestly I'd get either of those, should work really well in an NSK-2480. With the proper fan voltage you will never hear the fan.
ETA: one is the Kabuto, the other is the Zipang
I have a mini ninja in a 2480, I'm not sure my i5-750 would run fanless.

I part time in a small store and was surprised to see Ninja Mini on delivery again. The box displays the regular rev B marking but has a new part number, which makes me think that Scythe may have reissued the design to manufacturing at least temporary.adamxyz wrote:Otherwise this sudden availability in Sweden could mean that the Ninja Mini is in stock again in other countries as well.

It's not only the height I am concerned about (as the Minja is 1 cm higher than the Zipang 2, so there's some clearance): it's that it may be too much wide for almost any mATX board (and the 2400 has the case fans near the cpu).
Regards,
Luca
It says SCMNJ-1100 on my box, which means the rev B. SCMNJ-1000 is the rev A. Or do you mean some other number? I can't find any other number on the box (although there's a lot of text on the box...)mkk wrote:I part time in a small store and was surprised to see Ninja Mini on delivery again. You can buy the mounting clips for socket 1156 separately. Geizhals lists it at /deutschland/a392124.html (sorry, can't post links yet) where a few shops seems to have it in stock.klankymen wrote:Is there a way to mount the Rev A version to socket 1156? I have an opportunity to obtain a used one of these, but they are by default only compatible with 754, AFAIK.

Thanks, I did see that one myself, but it only talks about Socket 1366. There is no mention of 1156 in the description anywhere.... I assumed it wouldn't work.adamxyz wrote:You can buy the mounting clips for socket 1156 separately. At Scythe's website /en/products/pc-accessory/1366-mounting-clips.html it says "Using the new 1366/1156 mounting clips, all Scythe Coolers using the conventional non-VTMS mounting system are made compatible with the new Intel Socket LGA1366/1156." so it really seems to do the trick.klankymen wrote:Thanks, I did see that one myself, but it only talks about Socket 1366. Re: Scythe Ninja Mini Rev B.
There's a person in Canada selling these on Ebay right now, user name "worldarchitect"...
http://ebay.com/itm/111604626938
In his description he says "Have 70 units for sale make offer for all or any number."
The only problem is that I can't find a source for the 1366/1156/1155/1150 mounting clip kit (model # SCCL4-1366).
http://www.scythe-eu.com/de/produkte/pc ... clips.html
Aero Cooler is out of stock/backordered (probably never going to be in stock again)...
