Zalman 7000a not screwing in straight...

Post by NARC » Mon Aug 30, 2004 12:12 pm

So I just received my Socket 939 Asus A8v and 3500+ (sweet!) and I removed the stock backplate and installed the Zalman backplate.

It fit perfectly in the holes, and the nipples were screwed in finger-tight.

I next screwed in the hold-down (outer-most holes of course) a little left, then a little right, until it is snug.

I look along the plane of the mobo and !!!!! The nipples are canted in like: / ====== \

They are probably about 5 degrees deflected, and one slightly more so than the other. Is this normal? The HS is sitting nicely on the CPU, which is huge anyway, so I think I've got a fine seal, but I'm concerned. If anything, it's the hold-down bracket or I've got a height problem since the backplate fit perfectly.

Any suggestions?
