Can someone tell me if the xp-120 can be oriented on an amd64 MB (asus k8v-x) so that air can blow through fins straight to the rear exhaust?
This would place the ends of the heatpipes either next to the ps or next to the agp card.
Can the xp-120 be oriented differently?

Have you seen:
K8V *caps mechanically obstruct pipe slightly, cap tilting necessary
on the thermalright website.
Looking at the picture of the K8V-X. The only way to mount the XP-120 is with the heatpipes pointing to the memory. This is the case for most Asus boards I know. The heatpipes can never point in the direction of the screws that mount the bracket (PSU and video side with this mobo) On the side of the back of the case, the voltage regulation components are in the way.

In case anyone is planning their system to include the xp-120 they should know that some motherboards also orient the socket differently.
For example the DFI shown here:
