Sycthe Ninja SCNJ-1000 question for Socket 939

Post by okayfine » Mon Aug 29, 2005 5:15 am

Can this heatsink be used with the original retention bracket that came with my socket 939 mobo, or do I have to use the one comes with the heatsink?

The reason I ask is I have a Gigabyte NF4 SLU motherboard. It has a slightly raised IC chip near the socket that prevents you from using 3rd party retention brackets.

Thanks much in advance.

I think you have to use the one that comes with the heatsink since the unit mounts onto the board using clips.

You have to use the retention bracket that comes with the Nija yes. However, you can use the stock backplate in some cases. My A8N-SLI Premium had a compatible backplate.

Would you mind taking a picture of the Asus retention bracket? Thanks.

The ninja is almost perfect for my needs (I have a horizontal rackmount case with the exhaust fan right next to where the HSF would be).

Sort of related question - can I use the retention bracket that came with the XP-120?
