Using SY1225SL12M instead of NF-P12 with NH-U12P SE1366?

Post by deadfones » Mon Dec 15, 2008 11:01 am

I got a NH-U12P SE1366 for my soon to arrive i920. Any reason to use the Slip Stream M instead of the included Noctuas? I haven't plugged either in to hear how they sound. Of course I want the quietest thing possible. I understand the Scythe will be louder at 12v. I will either be plugging them into the mobo and using it to control the speed or running them off a Zalman MFC1 Plus (yet to arrive).

Thanks for your thoughts.

NF-P12's sound charasteric is... intresting at least. Its silent yes but you still have weird feeling that you hear noise even you don't hear it. Bit like far away flying plane etc... I have noctua cooler and I put undervolted slipstream 800 on it. More than fine.

NF-P12 however is silent enough for most peoples. Even with 700-800 RPM's the noctua wasn't quite enough for me. Now I have slipstream 800 at 550 rpm's and it works well ^^

The 5V mod works well with the NF-P12. Too bad Noctua only includes a 7V and 9V resistors. It will make it run at like 600RPM and it is silent in most situations.
