Survey: AMD Chip Temps with 5V Fans
Hey all - I'm considering getting a new AMD chip to replace my Palamino Athlon 1600. It currently runs at 58deg while folding, with a 5V L1A on a Volcano 7. Since I'm trying to kill the noise, I'd like to stay with a 5V L1A on the HS. Just looking to see who has gotten what temps with their T-bred or Barton, with the fan at 5V and the CPU under full load (folding, encoding, whatever...)
So if you could please let me know the chip, folding temp, and HS, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks,
Sameer
Note: I know about Alistair's thread, but there are very few posts there where people have all the info I need...

take a look at this: http://users.erols.com/chare/elec.htm
according to that page, the palomino 1600+ puts out the same amount of heat as a tbred 2100+, and the barton 2500+ puts out ~10% more heat (68w vs 62w)
Hope that helps.

Right - I should have mentioned, my XP1600 Palamino is undervolted to 1.45V...
I'm hesitant to compare wattages because that is at the stock voltage, and I'd like to know what the optimal settings are. Thanks for the chart tho - I'm going to have to pore over that.
BTW, about wattages:
SANDRA reports my wattage at 36W, which is utter BS
However, using P=VI, with V=1.45V and I=36A (from that chart), my wattage *should* be 52W.
Anyone know how to get the *right* wattage?

I used to have a palomino 1600+ undervolted to 1.525v, TT volcano 7 hs, and ducted L1A at about 7v. I was thinking about buying a new heatsink, but as a good, ductable heatsink is expensive, I bought a t-bred JIUHB 1800+. It runs about 5°c to 7°c lower with the same setup (undervolted to 1.25v), and it's unlocked, which means I can underclock or overclock depending on my needs.
As you've undervolted your processor from 1.75 to 1.45v, its max wattage should be about 62.8w / 1.75² * 1.45² = 43w, and typical wattage about 56.3w / 1.75² * 1.45² = 38.6w
T-Bred JIUHB 1800+ at 1.25v = 31w max. I can also underclock it to 1600+ at 1.2v (maybe 1.15v, can't remember), should be about 26w max.
Results should be the same with a 1700+, but they didn't have any left so I had to go for the 1800+.
