Thermaltake Silent Boost - not silent and not 21db

Post by davidstone28 » Tue Oct 28, 2003 1:20 pm

Don't know how these guys measure noise levels but there is no way that the fan on the Silent Boost is silent or 21db. It's definitely audible and more like a high pitched sawing / whirring sound. Supposed to be some sort of Panaflo fan too. They must have measured the noise levels whilst standing in the house next door.....

As a benchmark, the 92mm fan on the Zalman Cu6000 when turned to minimum is silent - 20db - you cannot hear it.

There is no way that that the silent boost fan can be 21db.

Just thought I'd share my 2 cents in case anyone is thinking of buying one because of its supposed quietness / silence.

Isn't it just a Panafo M1BX?

Probably 21 dB(A) at it's lowest setting, but not as it heats up.
