NOCTUA s12, NOT ENOUGH [PRESSURE] TO [EXHAUST] AIR?

Post by DJ RA » Wed Jan 23, 2008 8:20 am

Well, I have a p182 case with a P-12 on the CPU heatsink with a tunnel leading the exsaust out the back. on the Blowhole I have a S-12, the only problem is the s-12 is SUCKING air in through the top!!!!! I have it hooked up the right way, and the blades are spinning clockwise like they are supposed to, yet air goes IN not out!!! why is this? am i overlooking something? please help! thanks.

 ..... I'd suggest getting a more powerful fan for the top. The S12 is known to under-perform trying to pull against resistance. That's pretty funny though....

Hello,

Is there a fan on the rear exhaust? I'm assuming that the duct is connected to the top fan?

actualy the duct is connected to the CPU heatsink, so the CPU fan Pushes the air through the heatsink and out the back of the case eliminating the need for a fan back there, or so i thought.

Hi,

So, the top fan is trying to suck air out of a (very) narrow space between the the cardboard and the top of the case? If so, have you tried running w/o it?

I don't think the fan at the top is necessary. If you're affraid of having hot air trapped between the duct and the top of the case, you can just run the top blowhole open without a fan. Either that or get another P12, or maybe swap the fans so the weaker one is pushing and the stronger is pulling.

Is your quad of stepping G0? You're probably getting readings 15 degree Celsius too low due to the Tjunction Max being different in some of the quads. Check with CoreTemp or SpeedFan beta. Anyway, those temps are fine.

Just another note, Noctua bearings don't handle horizontal positions well. Same with sleeve bearings.

Yeah, my noctua in the top vent was really noisy when it ran at more than 1000rpm.. switched it out with a scythe s-flex 800rpm :)

I really, really dont recommend using a noctua for that heatsink, get a nexus or a s-flex instead.
