Fan with no moving parts

Post by tdashmike » Sun Jan 09, 2005 10:12 am

I found a US patent on how to move air without moving parts.

http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars ... /4,789,801

This patent is used on some of the Sharper Image ionic purifiers.

I am gonna try find a good cheap ionic purifier and modding it into my computer as a fan.

**UPDATE**
Need to hold off on this project. I have to build a new resevoir for my watercooling first.

Would that produce enough airflow, sufficient for the demands of component cooling?

I have no idea really, that is why I will have to experiment with it. But if it works it's gonna be sweet!

Yet, noone has done it. The first link in the last post has also dissapeared. I'm guessing it's not a very good or useful idea.

I am gonna try something small first, cooling just the northbridge probably.
The thing is that these things are expensive.

You also can't have too mayn of these, apparently it gets bad for you.

I believe it would put too many free radicals into the air and oxidise your body even quicker than normal oxygen does.

Apparently oxygen poisoning is one of the chief causes of ageing...
