Advice on Jamicon JF0825S

Post by J. Sparrow » Wed Jan 17, 2007 9:12 am

Hello,

I need to remove hot air from the top of my CM Stacker, so I bought a Coolink SWiF 801, which was a real bad choice.

The thing is rattling and vibrating, so all the top of the case vibrates merrily along. I tried putting a soft rubber insulator between the fan and the mounting, which reduced but did not solve the problem.

I happen to have a Jamicon JF0825S 1H lying around (taken from an old PSU), so I gave it a try. This fan spins much faster than the 801 at 12V, but can be undervolted at 5V and still move more air than the coolink. It seems to be quieter, too.

Questions:

1) Will it break soon, considering the bearings are likely to be sleeve and the mounting is horizontal?

2) On the Jamicon site, there are several types of JF0825 1H. Is there any way to check whether it's a -01, -02 or -06 ?

These are the label markings, sorry for picture quality and dust:
