I'm still new to trying to balance performance and silence(or quietness for me).

I grabbed a few of those yate loon black/orange fans and I love them. So cheap and they have a good sound character in my opinion.

I replaced my antec 900's tricools (horrible imo except on low setting) with 800rpm s-flex fans. I was not happy with the '33cfm' of the s-flexs(although they were so quiet it made my elbows seem noisy). I replaced all but 1 of the tricools with the orange/black yate loons.

I've got a scythe 5.25'' fan controller that I *could* use to lower the rpms of the yate loons but the little noise they produce is fine in all situations for me.

I havn't tried out the other brands though so I can't really recommend them. I'm going to have to say go with some yate loons since they are so cheap you can't go wrong. I do have a noctua nf-p12 sitting on my desk I plan to put on my heatsink though... the reviews are so good on that fan that I had to try it out.

A Nexus Real Silent is a much slower Yate Loon. Speed is cut from 1350RPM to 1000RPM, which makes a lot of difference where noise is concerned. The Yate Loons really must be fitted with a speed controller - then they're a good cheap and versatile fan.

The missing option on the poll is the Scythe Slipstream. I would pick it over the Nexus for quality.

Of course if I'm only going by price I'm happy with the Yate Loon. Even at 12v it's not bad. Fwiw the Nexus 1000 RPM really runs closer to 1100 RPM at 12V (though there will be sample variance on both fans). There really isn't that huge a difference between the Nexus at 12V and the Yate Loon Sleeve version at 12v. Just be sure you don't buy the ball bearing version of the Yate Loon.

No matter what don't worry too much about it. Buy from a place that has more than one fan you are considering. Grab at least one of each and compare for yourself.

Most likely you will want to buy slower fans for the front or just undervolt them more. If I read it right you need 2 front and 1 rear so you might try

1 Yate Loon for the rear +
2 Slipstream for the front (either 800RPM model on 12v or 1200 RPM on 5v might be what you want)

a more expensive way to go would be

1 Slipstream 1200 for the rear
2 Slipstream for the front (again either 800@12v or 1200@ some lower voltage)

The numbers below are from SPCR reviews:

120mm Nexus 12V 1080RPM

Slipstream M 1200 12V 1210RPM
Slipstream M 1200 9V 1030RPM
Slipstream M 1200 7V 890RPM
Slipstream M 1200 5V 720RPM
Starting voltage 2.4

Slipstream L 800 12V 770RPM
Slipstream L 800 9V 640RPM
Slipstream L 800 7V 540RPM
Slipstream L 800 5V 420RPM
Starting Voltage 3.2

Just remember that a slipstream pushes more air for the same CFM so if 1300 RPM on the Yate Loon is too much 1200 on a slipstream is slightly more air/noise not less.
