80mm fans needed, quieter than PSU.
Hi there,
I have a htpc which is fanless apart from the psu fan. All temps are not at dangerous levels but I would like to add a few case fans to improve cooling.
There is space for 3x80mm fans in my case, two directly above motherboard and the other in front of the hard drives. I have a Corsair HX450 PSU which I am very happy with (especially the very low noise!)however I don't want the case fans to be any louder than the psu. Could anyone recommend me a fan that would be as quiet as the PSU? I have tried a number of "quiet" fans which have turned out to be louder than the spec suggested.
I'm leaning towards getting the Noctua 80mm fans over the mb and a lower rpm/noise fan for the hard drives but don't want to spend the money only to find out they are louder than I wanted.
Thanks

the old panaflow slow is still among the best for 80mm, from my experience. very nice and smooth tonality and the sound doesn't propagate far. haven't tried noctuas, however, they could be better...
don't worry too much about the fans not moving enough air. even the least powerful ones will move just enough for you to notice the difference, especially under load. the noise is a bigger concern in your case, considering you now have basically a one-fan-system.
