Quietest 140mm led fan with decent airflow?

Post by boe » Mon Feb 01, 2016 11:54 pm

Hello,

I have a Coolermaster Cosmos II. I've got about 8 fans in it - replaced nearly all of them but the front fan. I've noticed it is the loudest one in the system. I was considering putting a Noctua 140 in the front but I think I might miss the LED. Not sure if anyone makes something that is LED but better than the coolermaster.

hard to say. as a general rule most of us here tend to stay away from led fans because they are often made of a more brittle plastic, that have a tendency to resonate more than softer (damper) materials.
since this is the fan that's closest to your ears, id focus on its acoustics over looks, but that's just me. you could just add some separate led's to the case if you want.

I don't know whether they're the best ones or not, but they're still pretty good fans nowadays, noise-wise (though they use sleeve bearings).

Thanks for the input. Believe it or not I use the LED to see if my PC is on or not from the other room and to make sure I turn it off at night. I guess I could put in an LED light easily enough.

I managed to put 15 8TB spindle drives in it and it is still very quiet and cool although there is always room for improvement.
