SLK3000B

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=93000

We don't have all the pictures up/info, but the main things:

Same drive config as the SLK3700AMB
CAG1.1, (part of being Thermally Advantaged Chassis)
Fan grilles like the 3700BQE
No Power supply

We just started shipping these

I'm hoping to get the rest of the info up later today.

Perfect. The only thing stopping me from getting the AMB was the colour, and now I don't have to worry about selling the extra power supply.

Now I wonder how long it will take for these to show up in stores :?

May I also pleeeease request that you get a proper representative here in Turkey? Your current one practically killed the brand.

Name this the BQA: Black & Quiet AMB :)

Whoa, nice! Best of both worlds, no? ;)

Any idea what it'll retail for? I'm assuming it'll be a bit cheaper than the AMB and BQE, since it doesn't have a power supply...

Edit: I second the proposal to name it the SLK3000-BQA. :P

Looks like USD 59.oo from the antec site (plus shipping).

That's a good deal to me - I just need to find a Canadian online retailer ;-)

Is it SLK3000B or SLK3800B, because the web page refers to both? Which one is the typo?

Nice, but there’s now two duct holes in the side panel :?

Good job guys! Seems like maybe you've been listening to the feedback about the 3700AMB vs. 3700BQE.

Excellent! :) I was going back and forth between the 3700s, the Sonata, and maybe the 2650, now my choice is easy.

I find the vents to be nice addition really. You certainly dont have to use them if you dont want to. It would be easy as pie to block them from the inside of the case if needed with a single piece of tape and it would never aesthetically show. Then if later on you have a change of heart and wish to use them to bring your cpu or video card temp down the vents are already there ready to use.

I am a little disappointed that there is no removable motherboard tray but hey for 99% of the people out there this has never been an issue since there is so much room in this case.

Hi- new to SPCR. I'm going to become a guinea pig-- i've got a zalman 7700 and winchester 3200+ on order. I was having a tough time deciding on a case, but this seems like a good deal. What's the deal with it being listed as both 3000b and 3800b? Can I order it?

Oh, and I forgot to add -- How about a front-panel firewire port?

Side vents?

Post by gbraun » Wed Dec 01, 2004 1:20 pm

The mechanical drawing shows little room for doubt, but the description doesn't mention the side ports.

Any confirmation Antecrep?
Cooling capacity: up to 2 120mm fans
- 1 rear (standard) 25mm thick
- 1 front (optional) 25mm thick

Sounds good, I think I might have to pick this one up.

One question for you AntecRep, how come you aren't putting front firewire ports in these? Thats my only real hesitation in getting this, or any of the similar line of cases.

one more wish...

Post by NeilBlanchard » Wed Dec 01, 2004 5:34 pm

Hello:

The one last thing I would wish for is either a version without a door, or a door with hinges like the Black Knight -- i.e. it slides back against the left side of the case so it can be open and out of the way! :o

Oh, and the large opening on the bottom edge of the bezel that allows a large portion of the intake air to bypass the filter seems a little silly! :? I have always just taped it over to force the main intake air to come through the filter -- and if the slots could be a little wider...

It does look to be an excellent case, to be sure. The 4252 might just be displaced at the top of my list!

Antecrep,

Question of the day, when is it going to enter the distribution channels? Because this may be the new case that I use for most of my systems.

According to AntecRep's initial post:
AntecRep wrote:We just started shipping these
and if you go to the link that he provided, it will let you order one online, direct from Antec for $59.

So if you're in a hurry, order it directly from Antec.

For the side ports take a look at the product flyer
http://www.antec.com/pdf/flyers/SLK3000B.pdf

I'm not sure about why no FireWire, other than some additional differentation from the LifeStyle Series of cases. These are geared for a lower price point afterall.

Future cases will have different style doors. I'm still not sure about doors myself (I have SLK3700BQE right now, first front door case for me).

Distributors should have these in by the middle of next week (some places may already have them). Additionally many websites etc should have most of the information on these cases available now so they may start showing up soon.

You're not likely to see these at retails (ie Best Buy etc) mostly because they tend to like 4 color boxes which we're not doing for this.

I though about buying this case through the Antec store thinking that the high Cnd $ and no taxes should offset the shipping cost. I was brought back to reality when Antec (very quickly) replied that it would be $66.46 to ship it  Stupid me forgot about duties and taxes at the border.

Just wanted to share my brain fart.

Anyway it is good to hear that they should be hopefully be showing up next week.

Looks good to me. I will check Techdata in a couple of weeks, but it looks like I have my new case of choice.

That's without shipping? Then with shipping that would be as much as a 3700AMB is here, though I don't know how available they are in your area.

Similarly, I thought I could order a 3700BQE from ncix, then I saw the shipping. Locally, BQE's were a lot more expensive than AMB's, so I got an AMB instead. Lucky for me, the rubber grommets are no good; drive cage removability was imperfect, but still very usefull.

I could buy a BQE locally for a few bucks less (after tax vs order from Antec with the US-Cnd $ conversion). It is depressing seeing a > $35 price difference between AMBs and BQEs locally when on the web they are a few dollars different.

What's stopping you from getting a 3700AMB then?
