Is there any new generation graphic card which comes standard with an Arctic Cooler, which is as quiet as HIS Radeon 9800Pro Excalibur?
I'm using AGP.
I've tried the Galaxy 6800, way too noisy. As far as I can see in the AC Silencer threads, many people are having problems with the newer silencers, maybe due to PWM fan regulation.
I've checked out the passive Gigabyte 6800, but it's over my budget, and I'm having a hard time finding other passive solutions around here. Besides, my case aint got the best airflow (which also excludes Zalman and the likes), so I would prefer a Arctic Cooler based solution.
I've managed to find a dealer, which still stock the HIS 9800 - it's somewhat overpriced, but I cant stand the noise...

Yes, I found a thread about HIS X800, but it wasn't excatly silent... it was noisy.Tephras wrote:HIS still have IceQ editions in their VGA lineup, they're available from the Radeon X700 up to the Radeon X850XT.
I've also tried a Galaxy GeForce 6800 w/ standard Arctic Cooler - way too noisy, cant recommend it.
You should be able to get hold of a passively cooled geforce 6600 or 6800 (gigabyte do some models), or undervolt a modern vga silencer. I've got of Geforce 6800GT with a VGA silencer and it's not bad with the standard, certainly much better than a normal stock cooler. If you undervolt it with a fanmate you can get it as quiet as the orginal silencer I had on an old radeon 9700 and I've not had temperature problems. Failing that there's always the zalman (and other manufacturers) heat pipe coolers.

Thanks, but:
Seems like HIS 9800 is the only card, which fits my needs.
Besides, I've tried two of the Galaxy 6800 w AC, way too silent. I want a standard solution, where I dont have to fiddle around with fanmates etc.Thomas wrote:I've checked out the passive Gigabyte 6800, but it's over my budget, and I'm having a hard time finding other passive solutions around here.
