Can I use the Scythe Ninja Heatsink for an AMD dual core cpu

Hi

Quick question,

Can I use the Ninja heatsink if i was to get a dual core CPU? Would I need to buy an additional fan to attach to it or would it be ok without one?

I was thinking like 64 x2 dual core 4400 or the 4200.

I have a DFI Lanparty Expert 939 mobo, and think i may need to replace my cpu but i am a bit concerned.

Should work pretty well, but I really suggest a fan at low voltage to be safe. If you do any kind of serious work you'll almost certainly need it.

You could probably get by with a passive Ninja if you undervolted your CPU. At stock volts or overclocked it might get a little warm.

I'm running a 4600 X2 at standard voltage with a fanless Ninja just fine. It's currently at 36C in a P180 case. The CPU will reach 42C under heavy usage.

Damn! I knew you could Ninja a Venice or Sempron,maybe a 3800 x2 but a 4600? Whoo-Hooo

There's a thread where a guy OC'd a Pentium dualcore,with a Ninja,not saying if it had a fan...and it hit the thermal protect at 67C and rising. Intel ought to hook one up to a crockpot,folks could compute and make soup at the same time.

Well,that 4600 having a good 15 degrees C,at peak,before the scary zone would have me think a 4800 would work,maybe a few more degrees. Kids..don't try this at home unless you have decent airflow.
