I can understand the outside aesthetics of a case, but the insides are rarely seen. It seems like a waste of paint and time to paint all the metal black on the inside, especially for a case like the P182, which isn't designed to show the inside without compromising the well shielded case cover.

Insides are currently painted gray. Changing form gray paint to black paint doesn't add time or waste.merlin wrote:I can understand the outside aesthetics of a case, but the insides are rarely seen. I'd prefer a 4-slot HD cage in both the upper and lower chamber. Why on earth do they have a 2-slot cage in the upper chamber? They both take up the same space, but instead Antec's building and installing two separate units- one of which is clearly inferior to the other. I don't get it- it ought to be cheaper and more functional to just put another 4-slot cage in there.
Personally I would like to have seen a 6 HDD in the lower chamber and completely forgo the upper chamber HDD. Maybe they could include something more useful like a duct.Kremmit wrote:I'd prefer a 4-slot HD cage in both the upper and lower chamber. Why on earth do they have a 2-slot cage in the upper chamber? I see what you're saying though but I believe the p180's primary cage is supposed to be the bottom one. So the upper one seems to be a "just in case..." cage.

yea the black looks good but think of all the times you have tinkered in your case... the paint would scratch off from removing screws.. that accidental slipp of the screw driver.... and scratching the case when your moving that not so easy to move cmos jumper when over clocking.... and while speeking of over clocking which causes more heat... black doesnt have the greatest heat properties of colors .....

Powdercoated interiors.
Yes, it would increase the cost of the case, but it'd be much more scratch resistant, and they could offer a wide assortment of colors.
Actually, I would not mind seeing a chrome interior on a case with a window. Actually, that's probably the only reason I'd have for buying a case with a window.

Black paint shouldn't be any more scratch-prone than gray paint, but I guess any defects can be more visible. I don't think thermal properties matter all that much, either. Heck, there isn't even much of a difference between aluminum and steel (unless you're using the case as a heatsink, of course). See the SPCR write-up on cases for more on this myth.
Yeah, until Antec releases it and it instantly get's almost as common as grey.Konnetikut wrote: Like I said already - it's unique, and better than that boring old gray.
There is a simple solution for the screwdriver slips, DONT!
Heat transfer, insignificant.
Chrome interior, you could have a case chromed if you want to, or polish it.
Powdercoat would be nice, i don't know what the current gray interiors are painted with.
Wow, you "show off" the inside of your computer to people? Man, that's nerdy.mattcoz wrote:Well, you'll see the back, also when you want to open it up and show off to people.paulesko wrote:looks good but you´re not going to see it since the p180 doesn´t have a side window. Why waste your time with asking Antec or other makers to provide black interiors?
Why not just take the case down to you local auto body shop and get a custom paint job?
Maybe you could get them to do a nice iridescent (the kind that changes color depending on what angle you look at it) job on the outside and a sleek black to silver metallic gradient on the inside!
Or, go all the way with something like this...
