Having said that, it's safe to say that the Orochi will fit most enthusiast tower cases in terms of width but the location of the CPU socket on the mobo will dictate more whether it will interfere with the PSU, optical drives or other components.
I'm still of the opinion that the Orochi is too heavy to mount with the motherboard vertical. In time, its spring mounts will weaken. The stress on the motherboard is very high.
Some readers may recall that I wrote about a
completely silent PC with no moving parts on an open bench setup in our anechoic chamber, using an Orochi, with the board mounted flat so the heatsink was straight on top. Recently, we chose to house that system in a case to save on bench top space. The Orochi had to be abandoned. The AMD clip just did not give us enough security mounted vertically -- the clip barely engaged the notches in the plastic HS retention clip.
